Outbreak Lesson #3
Something weird is happening
with the crows of Cavroadia.
- As Cavroadia's foremost
experts on infectious diseases, Mr Shrubsole has asked you to prepare a
report detailing any risks which the crows may pose to the Cavroadia's fair
citizens. To do this, you need to research other cases of diseases passing
from animals to humans. See what you can find on the internet on this topic
- try to find at least 5 relevant items or articles. Write a brief historical
summary of these cases which at a later date can be included in a full report.
- You don't have to include
a recommendation to Mr Shrubsole at this point, just give him a summary
of cases which have gone before.
Hints and Tips :
- Try looking on some of
the sites you have found on the News Links
page for relevant articles
- When searching for articles,
start off specific (eg. "crows" + "human disease"). If that doesn't give
you anything, try casting the net a little wider (eg. "birds" + "human disease").
Don't just use these search terms - be creative.
- Discuss your search terms
with other students - brainstorm your ideas. Don't waste time doing things
which doesn't work for other people
Unlike other Outbreak lessons,
you do not have to email any results to Dr Bowles today. Instead, make sure
you save your document to disk. This lesson will be part of your big Outbreak
assignment to be handed in at the end of Term 4 - don't leave it to the last
minute. However, feel free to email a draft in to Dr Bowles to check it
over to make sure you are doing the right thing.
