Outbreak Lesson #7
You have now arrived
at the pointy end of the CBE outbreak. It is time for you to develop and
put in place a program to control the disease and end the threat it poses
to humans and crows alike.
Cavroadia's Health Minister has called on the scientific community to
help stamp out the menace of CBE (see the latest article in The Curious
Snail). Your task is to write a proposal detailing how you
would go about keeping the disease under control. Keep in mind the following
points :
- The proposal has to be
realistic - it needs to use real world technology
- Cost - Cavroadia has
a limited budget and the program has to be open to everyone
- How wide ranging des
it have to be ? Should everyone take part or are there certain groups who
should be targetted. Is it just crows and human who are in danger ?
- Human rights - keep in
mind that some people might object if you get a bit heavy handed
Keep your proposal succinct
- a brief outline of no more than 250 words should suffice. Make sure you
critically analyse your proposal - point out its good points
and bad points.
Use research to back up your statements - your Googling skills should
be developed enough now that you should be able to find sites which investigate
the pros and cons of different approaches to disease control. If you use
a site, make sure you reference it appropriately (use the referencing styles
from your annotated bibliography assignment).
Good luck - the fate of Cav Road depends upon you !
